The Only Thing Better Than a Summer Lake House...

The only thing better than a summer lake house...is a year-round lake house! Most of us LOVE a getaway to a peaceful setting. But what if you never wanted to get-away because home was your favorite vacation spot? Come on over to the home that feels like vacation: Heritage Harbor!

With grown children and one high schooler still under their roof, this couple wants their home to be a place for the whole extended family to gather. Finding the picturesque setting they desire, a move to the lake was just the beginning. Multiple renovations and updates later, the home was beautiful, yet incomplete.  The next step was creating an indoor space for meals and memories.

Paint color makes such an impact. Shifting to a lighter palette, the walls feel taller and eyes can takes the whole room in with less visual interruption. Neutral walls compel visitors to look outside. Rather than the previous interior versus exterior perspective, the new tone feels like an indoor-outdoor blend. Drawing on the view, the dining room color scheme is inspired by the water and lakeside landscaping.

Burlap sheers with a custom cornice boards frame the windows without blocking the scenery. On sliding rings, the sheers are functional for light filtering when the afternoon sun hits the room.

Architectural ironworks and large scale buffet lamps increase visual impact on the sideboard wall.  The client's heirloom mirror is now showcased. Repeating the shades of the dining room table and side chairs, the dark finishes in this nook give a rich and comforting feel.  This dining room now holds the balance of light and lovely, yet anchored and full of heritage.

Here are few of our favorite pieces in the room. (Plus a bonus glimpse at the new kitchen window treatment!)
